TeleTails provides veterinary telehealth services delivered entirely through software. This policy sets out our approach to managing the environmental impact of our operations. It applies to all TeleTails employees and contractors, and to the vendors and infrastructure providers we rely on to deliver our services.
TeleTails operates an asset-light business model. We do not own or operate manufacturing facilities, warehouses, or vehicle fleets, and we do not hold significant direct fuel-combustion sources. Our environmental footprint is concentrated in three areas:
Cloud infrastructure. We host our platform with established cloud providers that maintain public carbon-reduction commitments and publish data on the energy efficiency of their operations. We take environmental performance into account when evaluating infrastructure providers.
Distributed operations. We operate a distributed team model, which reduces daily commuting and eliminates the energy consumption associated with dedicated office facilities.
Equipment. We extend the service life of employee computing equipment where practical and dispose of retired hardware through recycling or refurbishment channels rather than general waste.
Business travel. We default to virtual meetings and limit business travel to circumstances where in-person presence is necessary.
Service impact. Virtual veterinary care can reduce the need for in-person clinic visits and the associated travel. We regard this as a positive environmental characteristic of our service, though we have not quantified the effect.
TeleTails has not yet established a greenhouse gas emissions baseline or formal reduction targets. As the company grows, we intend to develop an emissions baseline covering our direct and material indirect sources, and to evaluate formal reduction targets on that basis.
TeleTails complies with applicable environmental laws and regulations in the jurisdictions in which we operate.
This policy is owned by Hilary Jones, DVM, Chief Veterinary Officer, and reviewed at least annually, or sooner if our operations change materially. Employees are expected to follow this policy, and questions may be directed to the policy owner.
